The chartered plane, flying from Bolivia, was carrying members of the Chapocoense football team, airport officials said.

The team was due to play in the final of the South American club cup with Medellin team Atletico Nacional. The final has now been suspended.

Medellin's Mayor Federico Gutierrez described it as "a tragedy of huge proportions", but added it was possible there were survivors.

Obienyem: How to Slap a man and Cry First

Evil originates not in the absence of guilt; but in our effort to escape it.”
― Shannon L. Alder

The above quote by the inspirational Shannon L. Alder is probably best illustrated with a brief but familiar anecdote: As neighborhood urchins you may have been caught in a prank where a much younger person gave you a dirty slap and cried first, just to ensure you get the blame. But as adults we may think such pranks are far-fetched, unfortunately it is playing out before our eyes, courtesy Mr. Val Obienyem who was allegedly caught in the act of private jet smear photo shoot against the governor of Anambra State and subsequently reprimanded to desist from such despicable campaign of calumny.

I chose to write this because I have received the unsolicited photo of a private jet which they claim our governor chartered to Abuja. Although I thought I can attest that the mere thought of flying private jet when cheaper flights were available got me worried and if I may add, annoyed at Obiano. Alas some minutes later here was the same man boarding Arik Air enroute Abuja. I must say I felt scandalized and actually taken for a ride by the spate of lies we get fed every day, just to score cheap political point. No need to tell that I promptly barred the fellow.
Obviously caught unawares by the condemnation that followed this usual game played in concert with the sender of the false information, a crude fellow named Stanley Chira aka Mazi Odera; Mr. Obienyem has denied vehemently but subsequently turned round to blame the victim – Governor Obiano whose sin was minding his business to ensure things go well in Anambra. I think that is pure unkind cut and should not be condoned, that our governor should be so maligned on a daily basis.

Lest some persons get confused by the denials and sundry attempts by the real culprit to change the narrative, the fact is that a photograph was taken and sent through to portray the governor as wasteful. The question to ask is why? The man who published the material on his WhatsApp and other social media platform is Mazi Odera, a well-known smear-conveyor belt retained and funded by the former governor of Anambra State, Chief. Peter Obi though his media Aide Mr. Obienyem. I don’t want to belabour the argument; the fact is that the man who bears much of the blame is the man who handed the gun to the children.
Fortunately, Governor Willie Obiano has maintained a non-confrontational posture with his predecessor and has advised his aides to maintain the peace. I noticed that on two occasions when there was need to speak, it was to correct wrong assertions like the bogus 75bn bequeath and now this unwarranted distraction of a frivolous photograph at the airport. I have also noted that he does not hesitate to call them to order where the need arose. However, it seems that peace between the two friends does not serve the interest of the Odera fellow and his sponsors whose sustenance is served by stoking the fire of non-existent discord.

Again instead of taking correction, Mr. Obienyem is making the rounds to newsrooms across Nigerian and shouting to the roof-top that his life is threatened. He has also upped-the-ante with a claim that the governor is after his principal Chief Peter Obi.  This is far from the truth, irrespective of the sponsored stories and statements from such organizations. Most of us know that Obiano is not after former governor Obi, so there is no need to fan the embers of discord with his kinsmen so as to distract from the main issue. No one should be deceived.
Even as we speak, based on the same choreograph, the Odera fellow who posted the contentious photo is also busy with his daily fabrication of lies against the governor. These unsolicited trashes are sent asmails, on WhatsApp and facebook etc to Anambrarians in the name of opposition propaganda funded by the same man now shouting for all to hear. My question therefore, is there anything wrong in requesting that you be left to do your job for the people who elected you? I think that is the only thing Governor Obiano has requested and I believe that is not too much to ask.
Whereas many now know the Mazi Odera fellow as a merchant of lies, nothing can excuse Peter Obi’s aide Mr. Obienyem whenever he drops his guard like the airport incident.

Wife of the Lagos State governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode, representatives from the ministry of poverty alleviation will lead other dignitaries to the premiere of the first movie of one of the rising actresses-cum producers; Fisayo Ajisola on December Thursday 8, 2016 in Lagos.

The movie premiere which stands to address the plight as well as raise the hopes of the recently banned hawkers and underprivileged who are now finding it difficult to survive since the Lagos State government placed a ban on street hawking, also coincides with the five year anniversary of the actress’ Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), Jewel Empowerment Foundation (JEF), an outfit that has over the years empowered Nigerian youths.

Ajisola also noted that the  movie is targeted to draw the attention of the Federal Government, states and well-meaning Nigerians to the plight of young Nigerians who have no means of survival, education, jobs and practically no life, but only to find means to make their lives productive through any menial jobs.

She added that, “I am concerned with the lives of these young Nigerians. We need to project a sane society and we can only achieve this by shunning vices in our society and empowering our youths. The act of crimes and traffic congestion which, according to the state government, had aided robbery, kidnap, killing, and all sorts of evil deeds must stop. We must collectively build the society positively and make our nation a better place.”

Royal Heart: Bro. Iginla Sponsors Muslim Acid Victim, Completes Her N10m India Surgery Bill

Described by many as the most kindhearted man of God of this generation, Bro. Joshua Iginla, the Senior Pastor of Champions Royal Assembly, Chikakore-Kubwa, Abuja, in continuation of his philanthropic gesture gave additional N5 million to complete the N10 million promised to a Muslim acid victim, Jamila Yusuf, who was bathed with acid by her boyfriend some months ago on Sunday last week.

Bro. Iginla announced his sponsorship of Jamila’s medical trip to India for a reconstruction surgery, including her brother and a Medical Doctor, Dr. Osamaojo Eghosa, who would accompany them.
The philanthropic pastor had earlier presented N5 million to Jamila and gave opportunity to those who might want to contribute to saving her life.

He had, however, said that he had the whole money and would complete it if enough money was not raised from people to complete it.
The Senior Pastor had also processed Jamila’s Passport and Medical Visa as well as Passports and Visas for her brother and Dr. Eghosa who are accompanying her.

The additional N5 million and the previous N5 million, which completed the N10 estimated Medical bill, Jamila’s Visa and those of her brother and Dr. Eghosa to India, were also displayed Live at the Church service on Sunday.
“I am told by medical Doctors they might stay in india for up to three months. About N900,000 came in from outside apart from the N5m that I gave.

“So bring another 10,000 U.S. dollars and four bail of N500 (N1 million) to make it N10 million. I was told someone from Abuja here donated 4,300 Rupees to that,” Bro. Iginla said.
“So by this week, they are travelling to India and when they come back, we will update you again to see what has been done.
“They have gotten the Visa and her brother’s and Doctor Eghosa’s who will accompany her there.
The money in Naira, Dollars and Rupees bills was publicly handed over to Jemila immediately at d Church.
Bro Joshua Iginla of Champions Royal Assembly, again, stressed that he did not know Jamila from anywhere but was only showing love to her.
He also emphasised that his gesture was not to convert Jamila from Islam to Christianity.
His words:
“I want to tell you that I don’t know our sister and I need to stress that the money I am giving her is not a bait to turn Jemila from Islam to Christian.

“That’s why we did not give her Bible and we are not stopping her from going back to Muslim when she comes back but we are saying women should be respected and protected.
“It is not about converting her but about who is my neighbour. My neighbour is the one who needs my help and who I can render help.

“This is just the little we can do to preach love to all human race whether Christian, Muslim, Hindu or any religion or tribe.
“It is still a problem in Nigeria to help people outside of your religion or tribe; it is a tradition to help only people from your tribe or religion,” he said.
Doctor Eghosa, explained that all arrangements had been concluded for Jamila and the team to leave for New Delhi, India.
“Through Papa, we have made arrangement with Fortis Hospital in New Delhi and will be leaving this week by the grace of God”
“She will have cosmetic approach for the neck and also surgery for the eyes and the cost will be about N10 million or more,” Dr. Eghosa said.
According to him, the team of Doctors to carry out the reconstruction surgery had been contacted and was set to carry out the surgery.

Bro. Iginla is synonymous with assisting people from all walks of life especially, widows, orphans and less-privileged.

Dissatisfied Groom Commits Suicide On His Wedding Eve In Lagos

A 28-year-old man has committed suicide in Mushin, Lagos, on the eve of his wedding. Shakiru, popularly called Jarule, was found hanging from the ceiling of his 56, Oduduwa Street, Mushin home.

Relatives told The Nation yesterday that the father of two was being expected in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Saturday for the event. Shakiru was said to have sent a suicide message to his sister, Mariam, which reads: “I’m sorry. Forgive me.”

Mariam had reportedly insisted on his arriving early for the event on noticing his attitude of late. But when the message came in around 6:30pm, she did not read it immediately. When she did, she tried to reach some of his friends, but all to no avail. She then got their elder sister who lives near him to go and find out what was happening. His sister found his room locked from inside indicating that he was at home.

But when he did not respond to her knocks, she called Mariam, who asked her to look through the window from where she found his lifeless body dangling from the ceiling.

Mariam said: “I called him several times to urge him to get to Osogbo on time but he told me he would arrive probably on Sunday or even Monday. I asked him what he meant by that when he knew the wedding was slated for Sunday. He quickly changed it and said he was on the way, that he would be there. I was expecting him till I got his message late at night. I called people close to his area but it didn’t go. Later I called my aunt to help me check him up. That was when she found out what happened. I had stopped calling him at a time because of his unresponsive attitude.”

The late Shakiru also left some notes in his jotter, bordering on love and his life trajectory. They included “I’m Done”, “If you are reading this, it’s too late.” He also wrote phrases such as “I love you” on the pictures of his two children.

Some relatives described his death as embarrassing and unfortunate. They said he was an introvert who hardly picked their calls. It was learnt that his wife is about eight months pregnant. He was said to have proposed an abortion which his doctor warned against because “it was too late.”

His niece, who didn’t mention her name, believes he committed suicide over financial difficulties.

According to her, he became frustrated after the death of his mother three years ago.

“I don’t know what he has encountered in life that should warrant suicide. Since his mother died, he has been finding it difficult to cope with life because she pampered him a lot and he didn’t lack anything. She always supported him out of love for her children. He didn’t acquire any skill that could sustain him. After her death, he was dejected. Sometimes he would complain of not eating regularly, his job was not paying much and that he was getting tired of life.

“But I don’t understand his problem because even his children are not under his care. It is the family that has been catering for them. This wedding we ought to be doing now is not on him. All we required was of him to make himself available. We even sent money to him when he complained he didn’t have money. The wife’s family has been complaining that he was not doing anything on her.”

Another relative said he didn’t believe the late Shakiru committed suicide because of financial constraints. The deceased, he said, just received N36,000 from a thrift society the previous week.

The Nation learnt that the police are detaining four persons living with the late Shakiru.

I Started My Church With Just N250- Pro. Joshua Iginla’s Grass To Grace Story

An Abuja-based Christian cleric and Founder of Champions Royal Assembly, Kubwa, Abuja, Bro Joshua Iginla has revealed how he planted has said he planted his fast growing church 10 years ago with just N250.

Iginla, who had prophesied Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom’s emergence and many others within and outside the country has also given out more than 37 cars to selected Nollywood actors and individuals with cash gifts among others to the less-privileged.

“It doesn’t matter to me if I trek home as I have given even the car that I personally drive. I can only drive one car and live in one house at a time. This understanding is what has taught me that when I die, others will inherit my assets. The beauty of life is not in its duration but in its donation.
“I have not seen some of the beneficiaries before in my life or spoken to them. I’m seeing many of them for the first time today. I am seeing Jide Kosoko for the first time,” Iginla said.
The Clergyman spoke on Sunday at the grand finale of his church’s 10 years anniversary which was well attended by dignitaries including Benue Governor.
The 10th anniversary was Themed: “Grass To Grace.”
“I started my church 10 years ago with N250. I actually started in an abandoned and uncompleted building. The building was abandoned by the owner for the fear of armed robbers who had terrorized him.

“We held the first service by clapping our hands in the building. After the service, some women around that area mocked me. They did not know me, but I knew I was not a failure,” Iginla said.
Iginla, popularly called ‘papa,’ ‘Ororo’ or ‘Oracle’ by the church members, however, said he was able to transform from what he called chronic-poverty because he was able to break satanic rules.
Speaking on a message titled “Breaking Satanic Rules,” Iginla it takes militancy mentality, prayers and faith to break satanic rules.
In his address, Ortom who unveiled 13 newly published books by Iginla, noted that the church and the cleric had been a blessings to his life.
Going down memory lane, Ortom said recalled that dropped out of secondary school in 1970s out of poverty, but now he had held various political offices including Ministerial, Chairmanship and at present the state governor.

Lesbian Scandal Update: "Organisers Shot My S*xtape As Part Of Winner's Criteria"- Ex-Miss Anambra Beauty Queen Finally Opens Up On Sex Scandal

Since the story of the sex video involving former Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, broke a few weeks ago, several groups and individuals have come forward with different versions of what transpired between the embattled 20-year-old beauty queen and the organisers of the pageant.

The former beauty queen was seen in a shocking x-rated video with a lesbian partner. Surprisingly, the video was released on October 11, 2016, a few days before the expiration of her tenure originally billed for October 28, 2016.

Every day across the state since the video hit the streets, different versions of what led to the scandal are churned out by the actors, leaving the people confused and unsure of what to believe.

Since the scandal broke, Miss Chidinma Okeke, who won the Miss Anambra beauty pageant, organised by the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), has remained incommunicado, choosing to go into hiding over alleged threats to her life. She has also remained silent, leaving her lawyer to do most of the talking.

While the father, Sir Jeremiah Okeke, had claimed in recent reports that his daughter had been handed over to a relation for safety, some others claimed that the ex-beauty queen had relocated abroad.
But after weeks of keeping quiet, Miss Okeke has finally broken her silence. In an exclusive interview with The Nation, she debunked claims that she threatened to commit suicide, adding that there was never a time such thought came to her mind.

She also said her life might no longer be in danger, adding that her traducers were no longer threatening her life, and maintaining that those who were after her life had stopped contacting her.

She also said the faces behind her agonizing period in Anambra would be revealed soon, adding that with God, all things are possible.

Narrating her own side of the story, she said: “Early last year, the ABS advertised for the Miss Anambra beauty pageant. I heard of it and went to make enquiry.
“My roommate was also interested, but one of the organisers told me to apply. I told them I was not interested but the man insisted that I might win the competition. He also promised to give me the form for free if I indicated interest, and he did when I agreed to contest.
“But one Jane told me that before a winner would be declared, there were certain things to be done, including the (sex) video. I consented after some persuasion from the organisers. I later went for the contest at the Marble Arch Hotels in Awka, and I was declared winner with a Kia Rio vehicle as star prize.

“When I went for my car after the contest, the organisers brought out a contract form for me to sign, but I told them I wanted to contact my lawyer to see it. I was not given the opportunity to do so.
“What they kept telling me was that if I insisted on not signing the contract or wanted to contact my lawyer, they would release the video.

“At that point, I became uncomfortable and signed the contract to avoid such embarrassment, and the car was released to me from where it was packed within the premises of ABS.

“From that moment, I became a slave to them. On October 11, 2016, they called me to come and make presentations inside the office of one the organisers. After that, the man excused some people in that room and showed me the video again.

“They told me to drop my car and removed my crown from me. I told them I would take the car as stipulated in the contract. They insisted I should pack it in the premises of (ABS).

“I told my uncle in Abuja about the situation. My uncle called them and asked them to release my car to me. Instead, they forwarded the video to him as part of the blackmail. That was what happened,? Chidinma said, crying.”

She also said the scandal had weighed her down. Amidst sobs, she denied being a lesbian, saying she had never been involved in the act.

For her parents, Sir Jeremiah and his wife, Lady Nora Okeke, the incident remains a shock. According to Sir Okeke, the management and organisers of the pageant capitalised on his daughter’s age and naivety.

Actor Yomi Fabiyi's Marriage To British Wife Crashes, Gets Set For Divorce

Marriage of actor Yomi Fabiyi has crashed and this is authoritative. The marriage crashed after several months of denying it before fans and the media that his 4 year marriage to Fran, his British wife was sinking, actor Yomi Fabiyi has come out to admit that indeed, his marriage has failed and he has been unhappy for a long time.

The actor explained that the major issue that rocked his marriage was the long distance between them as his wife refused to come to Nigeria to live with her husband, while Yomi on his own part refused to settle down in the UK because of his career.

Actor Yome Fabiyi posted on his IG page that;

“It's so sad that a lot of people never give me the benefit of the doubt. Only a handful think it is right to respect my freedom of choice. I have been unlucky in life, most of what I do normally have opposite impression irrespective of my positive mindset. I cannot help it and will rather prefer to continue to be real as possible, I am used to being misinterpreted my entire adult life. I never aim to hurt anybody in words or actions before them or behind them. I am never raised that way. They forget that some people no matter how horrible the situation, still has some dignity left in them.”

“I have also been raised to know that no matter how small the interactions I have with anybody, I should not let my manners slip. It cost nothing but could win a whole lot of goodwill. Moreso, I have been vigorously warned by my parents never to prove to know if what am ready to give out is a guess.”

“Hopefully Fran accepts my proposition to end this marriage now as I cannot continue this way, AM NOT HAPPY anymore as we edge close to the 4th year anniversary. Fran is such a beautiful woman, supportive and wish I come live in England, take up employmemt and study. I HAVE USED HER DOCUMENTS TO RENEW MY NORMAL VISA ONLY, so no question she is not willing, I NEVER said that. With all humility, if she never promised me she is coming to take up employment in Nigeria and live with me, maybe we may not have secured the dating. I have made it abundantly clear I am not prepared to live abroad as my career was just gathering shape then. I decor wedding hall Nigeria colour on purpose.”

“The outlook of my choice may look familiar to those marriages but I never thought people will think of me that way. I have to live with that but sometimes it can be so bruising.”

“I am focused on my career and keeping my fans and admirers entertained. I have an absolute right to do whatever makes me happy provided it is nothing criminal, illegal, immoral or anti-social. I am NOT interested with the reason two adult came together. It's crude and an uncivilized thing to do for me. I HOPE I FIND TRUE LOVE AGAIN WHILE I PUSH FOR A HITCH-FREE DIVORCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I will be fine guys. Thank u” - Yomi Fabiyi
