CCT trial : Saraki flies in experts from US, Israel, Scandinavian countries

Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki may have decided to engage the prosecution in the suit filed against him by the Federal Government over his asset declarations when he held sway as governor of Kwara State.
To this end, the Senate President, sources said, has flown in a group of experts from the United States, Israel and one of the Scandinavian countries to provide ‘specialized services’ to his team of lawyers led by Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN.
It was gathered that the experts are not lawyers, but are crack investigators, forensic and handwriting specialists whose role will be to help get more information on the witnesses and documents that have already been filed before the Tribunal by the prosecution.
The experts, are believed to have arrived on Monday and immediately had a preliminary meeting with the Senate President’s team on Monday in Lagos. They are also to move to Abuja any moment from now.
“The investigators will ferret out and scrutinize thoroughly all available information on the eight prosecution witnesses, including their school records, service records from their past and present places of employment and personal information that may help the defence team in the course of the trial. Most of those so-called witnesses will not be credible when information concerning their life is presented publicly before the Tribunal.
“It is also expected that with the fear that the prosecution may present forged documents, our team needs to be vigilant and pro-active considering the manner in which the proceedings before the tribunal is being conducted. Our people believe that with the way properties that have nothing to do with Saraki are being put on the charge sheet, there are tendencies that documents to sustain their claims may have been forged. All these the experts will screen and help the lawyers with information that may help them,” the source said.
The listed witnesses who are mostly from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) are Michael Wetcas, Nura Ali Bako, Mustapha Abubakar Musa, Nwachukwu Amasu, Samuel Madojemin, Adamu Garba and Bayo Dauda ( a member of staff of Guaranty Trust Bank, GTB).

"Stop Ranting, Tell Me What You Don't Like About Kaduna Religious Bill" - El Rufai tells critics

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El Rufai, says those criticizing the Kaduna Religious Regulation Bill are Ignorant. Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday March 29th, El Rufai said many of those crying foul about the bill have not read through it. He denied claims of having any ulterior motive by the introduction of the law.
‎"If you read that Bill, it is very short, it is 16 sections. Read it; tell me what you don’t like. Don’t say you don’t like the entire law because we know we have a problem and I am the governor and I need a solution. So don’t say the solution is not to have the law. Tell me what you don’t like about the Bill and we can discuss it. Tell me what is against your religion, we can discuss it.‎ Honestly, we do not have any ulterior motive other than to put a framework that will ensure Kaduna state citizens live in peace with every one practising his religion, but disallowing every Tom, Dick and Harry to come and say he can preach.”

We know Nigerians are asking if our change agenda is real - Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has admitted that many Nigerians are beginning to question the change agenda of the APC government. In a statement signed by Segun Adeyemi, his special adviser yesterday March 30, 2016, Lai said the economic hardship being faced by many Nigerians has resulted in their skepticism of the administrations promise of change. He prevailed on Nigerians to still believe in the government, saying that very soon they see the change they voted for.

'We understand the skepticism of Nigerians in questioning whether this indeed is the change they voted for. I can tell Nigerians that our change agenda is real, and that indeed Nigerians will get the change they voted for.
As a government that was propelled into office by the power of the people, we cannot but feel the pains of our compatriots, and we deeply empathise with them.
Our message to our compatriots is that this administration under the able leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari is working round the clock to ease the pains of Nigerians, and that very soon, the efforts of the government will begin to yield fruits for the benefit of Nigerians'.
